Just one of the selections for this week's "What's the Score" program where we start playing cues compiled by a listener. This week's guest producer is my daughter Madison Wilson. You might be surprised with the choices my 19 year old made...tune in Saturday at 2pm east, 1pm Central!
I finally was able to see a screening of the documentary "Score" and I can't recommend it highly enough. Absolutely fascinating! It covers music for films from the silent era (yes, there was music for silent films) all the way to present and gives an intimate look at how scores are created and the collaborative effort it takes to make a finished product. I urge you to see this film if it plays in your area or but the DVD when it becomes available. A must for all film score fans!
In addition to the usual fabulous film music we'll play, we are delighted to welcome the Director of a new Documentary to our program. Matt Schrader has created a doc on film music called "Score". It gives a fascinating behind the scenes look at creating film music and interviews award winning composers as well. The film will be part of the Louisiana International Film Festival in Baton Rouge April 20-23. Check it out here https://www.lifilmfest.org/2017-films/score-a-film-music-documentary/
Be sure to tune in Sat. at 2PM eastern time or listen via archives.
How did you like our latest show? I would be interested in hearing from listeners on what you like about the show. And most important, what composers of scores would you like to hear. I will always play John Barry and Jerry Goldsmith but I don't want to ignore other great artists. So help me out...provide suggestions and we'll try and get them on a future show.
Our number of listeners keeps growing so thank you all for listening and telling your friends!
If you're like me, you sometimes to to get away from all the crap you hear about on the news. For me, when I reach that point, I turn to movies to escape...especially great film music! This week we do exactly that with scores from films such as The Untouchables, Superman, Jurrasic Park, The Lion in Winter, The Natural and more. Join us won't you? At 2PM east, 1 Central. Experience the magic of the movies through music!
I am so excited that someone has finally made a documentary on this subject. Long overdue. the movie, "Score", brings us behind the scenes to show what goes into bringing a film to life with music. Many of today's top composers are interviewed as well as experts in the field to give you a new perspective on film scoring. If you happen to live close to Baton Rouge, it will be featured at the Louisiana International Film Festival on april 23rd.
